olden Triangle is the area that produces three-quarters of the world's supply of opium. The name was called by the press and repeated usage in the mass media. The sensational fiction has given it a popularity. Golden Triangle has enormous area of 76,000h.u. (Highland Unit), roughly covers 5 northern provinces in Thailand, west of Myanmar and east of Loas. Chiang Rai province is in the very heart of opium producing area, the spot actually designated the Golden Triangle is the place near Chiang Saen where three countries meet. Chiang Rai is Thailand's northernmost province, number of population is almost a million. It's surrounded by three ranges of mountains,why it is known as the home of various tribal people. They had been the opium farmers before opium has been illegal since 1960.

Drive north of the city to orchid & butterfly farm , then straight to The Young Elephant Training Center in Chiang Dao, start an adventurous activity with an hour on a bamboo rafting, then

back to the camp to see the elephants enjoy bathing and working in the loggings,
then have an hour elephant ride into
the dense jungle.

Lunch is provided on bank of Ping River.

Then continue trip up north to Tha Ton, visit Tha Ton Temple for the view of valleys and mountains , then drive along the previous opium smuggling route to visit The Akha tribal village , then mini trek downhill to see The Lahu and Padaung Longnecked .

Then straight to Chiang Saen and The Notorious Golden Triangle and stay overnight in The Imperial Golden Triangle Hotel .

Then drive through the teak reforestation, to Mae Sai ( Thailand-Myanmar border ) enjoy wandering along the busy flea market. Have lunch at the border .

After breakfast in the hotel , have a speedy boat ride on The Mekong River from Golden Triangle to Chiang Saen , a stop is made to visit Laos checkpoint along the way.

Get off the boat in Chiang Saen-the first capital city in Lanna Kingdom and observe the ruined temple at Wat Chedi Lhuang .

After lunch drive along the mountainous area to Doi Tung , visit The Royal Villa of The Princess Mother and its beautiful garden.

Then drive to Chiang Rai and stay overnight

After breakfast in the hotel , have a 2 1/2hrs. boat trip to The Red Karen tribal village (elephant trainer 's village) , enjoy the beautiful landscapes on banks and observe their mode of living in the village.

Drive back to Chiang mai on another route via Wiang Pa Pao , stop is made at Wat Rong Khoon - the white temple which built by the famous Thai artist.

Then continue to the rose garden to taste the rose tea and homemade pies , lunch is served at The Cabbages & Condoms.

Then visit the sacred swamp where thousands of fish are waiting for the great lunch from us.
